About me

Background

My name is Marian van Schip and I have over 28 years of professional experience in the specialist areas of career coaching, outplacement and business coaching. I started my professional life as a customer advisor at the job centre, followed by an 11-year stint at Randstad HR Solutions as a senior career coach, outplacement advisor, (business) coach, trainer and project manager. My last role as an employee was as operations manager at C3werkt, an outplacement office for the creative sector.

I have been working as an independent consultant since 2013. I have amassed a thorough and wide knowledge base of, and experience with the job market, gaining extensive experience in careers guidance, training and coaching. I am 59 years old.

Over the course of my working life I have been trained and educated and amassed experience in commercial, entrepreneurial, management, coaching and consulting skills.

As a careers advisor I support professionals from graduate level, with outplacement and career orientation, internal and external mobility, employability, recruitment and selection, social media, employee development, training, and the development and implementation of training courses. As a business coach, I support start-up freelancers who provide a service. I have a large network of professionals at my disposal.

Mission and Vision

My mission is to help others find their way (back) to freedom. The freedom to be who you are. The freedom to do what you do best and thus (re) discover your inner strength. For me, entrepreneurship and work contribute to experiencing that freedom in terms of growth, development as well as in a financial sense.

My passion is to get people and organisations moving so that they can be proud of their work, produce good results and make people glow when talking about their achievements.

I believe that there is a solution for everyone’s problems and I believe that everyone has unique qualities, just not for every role. My core belief is that each of us is responsible for future-proofing their employability. I am happy to be your sparring partner in this.

My strengths lie in supporting people in an ever-changing environment. I take a practical, personal and professional approach when it comes to support in which the intended result and a customised, quality solution is central. For me, the phase of writing concrete applications is just as fun as the career orientation phase. My style is warm and business-like with a healthy dose of humour.

I like being able to show people where they excel and discussing the qualities and skills they can develop. I take a coaching and motivational approach, and if necessary, also provide a guiding hand. I work in accordance with my values – positivity, seeing opportunities and being results-focussed and trust-oriented. Tackling new challenges and innovation energise me. I love working with enterprising people.

In my role as a mentor I support (starting-out) career coaches in gaining recognition from the NOLOC professional body.

Bio

I grew up on a farm in the Betuwe region of the Netherlands. I studied in Amsterdam, graduating in youth welfare. After a period of living with my partner in the region ‘t Gooi, we moved to Utrecht where we currently live.

In 2008 I spent seven months as a development worker in Bogor in West Java, Indonesia for Randstad and VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas). I coached young people at a school for physically handicapped to expand their network, so that they could better place their students into paid jobs.

Prior to the placement I lived in Bali for 6 weeks with an Indonesian family who took in 21 girls from poor families to support them in getting their high school diploma. To find out more, Check out www.garudahouse.org.
